Interactive South Carolina Drought Conditions Map

Plantmaps has created a new interactive South Carolina Drought Conditions Map based on the Palmer Drought Index produced NOAA.  A drought index is produced for each climate division in South Carolina.   Each climate division is assigned a drought level based on it’s current drought index value.  If the region is suffering from drought conditions, the interactive drought conditions map reports the amount of rain needed to alleviate the drought.   Other data that make up the Palmer drought index that are incorporated into the interactive maps are:  Average Temperature, Average Precipitation, Upper and Lower Soil Moisture and a crop moisture index.

South Carolina Interactive Plant Zone Hardiness Map

Plant Maps has added a new interactive South Carolina Plant and Tree Hardiness Zone Map based on the 1990 USDA Hardiness Zone Map. South Carolina covers a wide range of growing zones and this new interactive map allows the user to zoom to the city and street level to determine the exact gardening zone. Hardiness zones (sometimes referred to as Growing Zones or Gardening Zones) are used by gardeners to determine the ability of a plant or tree to survive a minimum temperature in that zone. Plant Maps also allows users to locate their gardening zone by entering a zipcode in the planting zone to zipcode search tool.
